My girls were very excited for school to start back at the end of August. They had a meet the teacher night the week before. Emma was excited to have the same teacher Anna had last year.
They wanted to match for the special occasion.
Anna’s class… her 2 best school friends are NOT in her class, but she took the news like a champ. There are some other sweet girls from last year in her class, and she has made a few new friends – including a little girl right across the street.
Getting ready to head out on the first day of school! Anna rode her scooter that day because it was supposed to rain in the afternoon, so I bring the scooter home in the trailer when that happens. Normally she rides her bike to and from school, and I ride the bike pulling the trailer (Tony rode it this morning). So this is pretty much the scene every morning getting ready for school, unless it’s raining or I have to go somewhere immediately after drop off. Emma is not interested in riding her bike to school at all. She gets out 1 1/2 hours earlier than Anna though, so I walk up to the school with Junior and her bike and she has no choice but to ride it home. She’ll thank me later.
Having a sister to blaze the trail really helped Emma feel comfortable with this transition. As you can see, they opted not to match.
We got to go in with them the 1st day. This is the area where I give them hugs, pray over them and say goodbye every morning.
This is what they look like walking away from me down the hall in the mornings.
I have a ton of friends on Facebook who posted pictures of their kids with their teachers on meet the teacher night. I didn’t even think to do that, so I got Tony to take pictures with the teachers on the first day.
I am happy to report that both of them still love their teachers AND going to school! I get an occasional complaint about homework – I’m so thankful!!
